Pepsi Thimphu League 2017: Thimphu City FC celebrates their second title in a row

Thimphu City FC defended the Pepsi Thimphu League title in style. They beat Transport United yesterday at Changlimithang stadium becoming the first team to have won a league title without a single defeat.

Thimphu City FC lifted their first Thimphu A-League title last year with a staggering 44 goals in 14 games, the highest in the season and the team also conceded the least number of goals (11) and registered five clean-sheets during the league.

Transport United are in the second place and Thimphu FC took the third place.ย  A total of eight teams took part in the three-month long Pepsi Thimphu League. City and Transport automatically qualifies for the national league.

In the last match playedย between City and Transport yesterday, City won by 3-0 with a brace from Chencho Gyeltshen and one from Karma Samdrup.

The winner received a cash prize of Nu 400,000, the first runner up Nu 200,000 and second runner up received Nu 100,000.

Meanwhile, Terton FC and Drukpol are relegated to the B division. Tensung (RBA) and Phuensum FC will replace them in the A- League.
