On October 15 His Majesty The King granted Dasain Tika to representatives of the Hindu community of Gelephu at the Shivalaya Mandir in Gelephu.
Dasain Tika granted by elders and parents convey special blessings and protection. Dasain marks the victory of the Dharma King Rama, who was an emanation of Vishnu, over the demon Ravana- a victory of good over evil.
A press statement from the Royal Office for Media (RoM) stated that Dasain tika from His Majesty carries special significance as His Majesty is regarded as an emanation of Vishnu for those celebrating Dasain.
Further, while in Gelephu, His Majesty granted Audiences to the 46th Batch De-suups training at training centres in Pelrithang and Jigmeling, and visited the Gyalsung Training Site being developed in Tareythang.
His Majesty also visited the De-suung Skilling Program for Culinary Arts ongoing in Serzhong. The De-suups who began their training in August this year, received the opportunity to serve His Majesty during the visit.
His Majesty was accompanied by the Minister for Economic Affairs and His Majesty concluded the day with an Audience to the Gelephu COVID-19 Task Force.
Before the tour, His Majesty granted blessings for Dasain Tika at the Lingkana Palace on October 14.
A statement from RoM said: “The Tika, imbued with Royal Blessings, have been sent to all dzongkhags, for the people across the country. On Dasain, Hindu families will exchange the tika, which carries the blessings and protection of elders for their family.”
His Majesty also granted Audience to the De-suups training in the 46th Batch at Tencholing, and the Tsirang COVID-Task Force on the same day.
“It is tradition for His Majesty to bless the Dasain Tika, which when granted to the people, symbolises the binding together of the nation as members of a single family,” RoM stated.
