Druk Thuendrel Tshogpa is yet to receive a green signal from the Election Commission of Bhutan (ECB) to formally get the status of a political party. The Party submitted its application for registration to the Election Commission of Bhutan (ECB) on May 26, 2022.

In the past, parties took three to four months for registration with the ECB.

The party president, Kinga Tshering said that the registration is subject to high standards of scrutiny and rightly so because once a political partyโ€™s document is approved by the ECB, it becomes a national document.

He said that it has just been over a month since the Party submitted its documents. Therefore, every passage of time is worth it, added the party president.

He also added that the process has been very smooth, and seamless. โ€œEverybody has been very supportive. The Dzongkhag coordinators, candidates and the Party members have been working extremely hardโ€ added the party president.  โ€œThe election is only next year and we are not in a hurry,โ€ he said.

In line with the Political Party Rules of the Kingdom of Bhutan (2015), Druk Thuendral Tshogpa organized a party convention and elected its president and vice-president on May 2.

The partyโ€™s president is Kinga Tshering, and the vice-president is Dr (PhD) Chenga Tshering.

Kinga Tshering represented the opposition party, Druk Phuensum Tshogpa as its North Thimphu constituency candidate in the past and Dr Chenga Tshering contested as DPTโ€™s Thrimshing-Kangpara constituency, Tashigang candidate.
