The Bhutan Certificate of Secondary Education (BCSE) Class X examination 2025 recorded an overall pass percentage of 82.67 percent, with a total of 12,316 students appearing for the national examination this year. According to the results, seven schools across the country achieved a 100 percent pass rate, reflecting strong academic performance and the consistent efforts of students, teachers, and schools.

Rekrith Pelki Pradhan of Samtse Higher Secondary School and Jamyang Pelzang Dolma of Lungtenzampa Middle Secondary School emerged as joint national toppers, each securing 92.2 percent. Close behind them were Yogesh Adhikari of Sarpang Middle Secondary School, Somwang Tshering Palden of The Royal Academy, and Kuenzang Choden of Lungtenphu Middle Secondary School, who each scored 92 percent. Sonam Tenzin of Gongthung Middle Secondary School secured the third position with 90.8 percent, placing among the highest achievers in the country.

The results highlight continued improvement in student performance and reflect the commitment of schools nationwide in maintaining academic standards, with several institutions producing outstanding results and contributing to the overall success rate.

Meanwhile, in the Language and Culture Studies Certificate (LCSC) Class X examination 2025, a total of 46 candidates appeared for the examination and all successfully passed, recording a 100 percent pass rate. Passang Lhamo of Taktse Central School emerged as the LCSC national topper with 88.2 percent, followed by the late Kinley Pelden with 84 percent and Sonam Choki with 82.2 percent, both also from Taktse Central School.

Rekrith Pelki Pradhan, the national topper of the BCSE Class X examination 2025, said, “I felt a sense of mixed emotions, which included both happiness and fear. Honestly, I had never imagined being one of the national toppers. I knew that my exam went well, neither too good nor too bad, and it was a very proud moment for me and all the people around me.”

Reflecting on her preparation and the habits that shaped her journey, she shared that understanding the subjects deeply was more important than the number of hours studied. She maintained a disciplined routine, starting her day with morning prayers that gave her peace and focus, and practiced meditation to strengthen her mental health. Subjects like Dzongkha and ICT were once challenging for her, but the guidance of her teachers and persistent practice turned them into areas of confidence. She emphasized that consistency, discipline, learning from mistakes, and faith in oneself were the pillars of her success, lessons she intends to carry forward in life.

“My teachers were incredibly supportive, teaching me even during odd hours, intervals, and lunch breaks whenever I had doubts. My study techniques were simple, finding the best study time, revising past papers, practicing difficult questions repeatedly, and learning from mistakes. But above all, the key was never giving up, no matter how stressful or challenging the situation was. Meditation and faith helped me stay grounded and focused.”

Somwang Tshering Pelden, one of the second national toppers in the BCSE Class X examination, said, “My school and teachers played quite a big role during my preparation. Since The Royal Academy is a boarding school, I depended a lot on my teachers and friends. They helped me clear my doubts and had faith in me, for which I am always grateful.”

He explained that the environment at school, combined with the support of his peers, helped him stay motivated and confident during the intense months of preparation. The structured routine of a boarding school allowed him to focus on his studies while receiving guidance whenever needed.

He added, “My parents and family were my guiding light, always encouraging me to do my best and making sure I had everything I needed to become a learner. I did face pressure and worry, especially about completing revision, but I managed it by talking with my parents and friends and balancing my time between academics and social life. I would not have reached this achievement without the people who supported me, and I am always grateful to His Majesty for having faith in our youth.”

Kuenzang Choden, the third national topper of the BCSE Class X examination 2025, shared, “My biggest inspiration in achieving this success has been His Majesty, my family, and my teachers at Lungtenphu Middle Secondary School. They have encouraged me to pursue academic excellence with integrity, humility, and a strong sense of duty towards my society and country.”

She reflected on the broader support system that helped her along the way, including friends who provided encouragement and motivation during challenging times. She emphasized that success is not only about hard work but also about values, confidence, and gratitude, lessons she intends to carry forward in life. Kuenzang also shared advice for the next generation of students, urging them to practice self-discipline, believe in themselves, and respect their parents and teachers.

“Alongside my teachers and family, I am deeply grateful to my friends, whose support has been invaluable throughout this journey. My immediate academic goal is to pursue Classes XI and XII with full dedication and hard work, aiming to excel academically. In the long run, I aspire to build a career in a science-related profession where I can contribute meaningfully to society and fulfill the aspirations of His Majesty,” she added.

Sonam Tenzin, one of the third national toppers of the BCSE Class X examination from Lungtenphu Middle Secondary School, said, “When I first heard the news, I was honestly overwhelmed. There was a moment of disbelief, followed by immense gratitude towards my parents, teachers, and everyone who supported me throughout the journey. It felt rewarding to see years of consistent effort pay off, but it also brought a deep sense of responsibility to live up to that achievement.”

He reflected on his disciplined but balanced study routine, which allowed him to maintain focus while managing stress. Sonam divided his day into dedicated study blocks, practiced answer writing and MCQs, revised notes daily, and reserved evenings for current affairs and light revision. He emphasized the importance of regular reflection, adjusting plans as needed, and maintaining proper sleep and mental balance, all of which contributed to his consistent performance.

“My approach combined rigorous study with self-care. I made sure to revise past topics when my concentration was highest and reflected weekly on my progress. This not only strengthened my retention but also helped me stay motivated and focused on long-term goals,” he added.

Passang Lhamo, the national topper of the LCSC Class X examination 2025, said, “I prepared for the Language and Culture Studies Certificate examination by studying a little every day instead of waiting until the last minute. I revised all the important topics from the textbook, practiced past papers, and made short notes, which helped me revise quickly. These strategies helped me stay confident and calm during the exam, which contributed to achieving a top score.”

She credited her teachers, school, and family for providing guidance and a supportive environment throughout her preparation. The teachers explained difficult topics clearly, the school encouraged students to take the subject seriously, and her family gave her the time and space to focus, motivating her to stay consistent and dedicated.

“My achievement in Language and Culture Studies will help me build a strong foundation for future studies, especially in subjects related to language, communication, and culture. It also deepened my understanding of Bhutanese identity and values, which will be useful in any career I choose. This motivates me to continue learning and to aim for higher academic goals,” she added.
