Q. What are you up to this days?

A. I just completed the project “Thimphu Taxi” under Samuh OTT platform and now, I am planning to take a month break before I start to work on other 3 movies which are in the pipe-lines.

Q. Have you always wanted to be an actor?

A. Not just me, but I think majority of our people are interested in acting. Back then, after watching Bollywood movies, we would try to act like them in those movies among friends for fun.

Q. How did you first join film industry?

A. I think it was a blessing for me. I had just come to Thimphu and those days, it was the most happening trend, people flocking towards capital perhaps for better opportunities. However, I never came here with an intention to be an actor. After visiting the city, I hang-out with people who worked in the entertainment industry and watch them work and making films. Basically, this is how I inadvertently became part of the industry.

Q. As a director, what are the challenges and problems you came across?

A. Directing comes with huge responsibilities. A lot of technical problems, family issues and other related problems will come. Moreover, making film in a small country is really challenging because it comes with a lot of dos-and-don’ts. For instance, to shoot in a religious place, there are certain restrictions. Likewise, some films are not made based on reality but a fictional-some-one’s imagination. So in that imagination, when the director is portraying some scenes which is fictional, people starts judging. They would say this is impacting the society or the culture. So, directing is not easy. It comes with a lot of challenges.

Q. How many movies have you directed till date?

A. After more than a decade in the film industry which has been a long process of learning various disciplines of filming – photography, lighting, cinematography, and everything pertaining to film making, I have directed 4 movies so far.

Message to the youths: “Always be good, do well and think well. Never get engaged into bad habits.”
